Hybrid powertrains, 4-cylinder engines, and turbocharged engines power the Hyundai Elantra. Base models rely on the 2.0-liter 4-cylinder engine that outputs 147 horsepower while earning 43 miles per gallon on South Carolina highways and 33 miles per gallon on Sumter city streets.
Thanks to the 1.6-liter GDI 4-cylinder hybrid powertrain, Hybrid Hyundai Elantra sedans are even more efficient, earning 53/56 (city/highway) miles per gallon. Darlington drivers can also choose the optional turbocharged engine, a 1.6-liter Turbo GDI 4-cylinder, to receive 201 horsepower. These turbocharged N Line models earn 25/34 miles per gallon and feature a multi-link independent rear suspension.
